The soccer team represented in the play is a nondescript team, so I wanted to make the jerseys as plain as possible. Since we decided on this plain concept, I wanted to make sure the personality of each character could shine through. I worked closely with each actor to determine how they interpreted their character. We discussed things like favorite colors, what they would wear to school, and why they played soccer. It was decided that the best way to show the personality of each character was through their shoes, hair, hair accessories, and stickers on their water bottles. Each actor got to chose their own shoes within a certain price range and we developed their hair styles together. The end result was the actors' ability to play their characters with more depth, understanding, and confidence.
